The Manhood Coat of Arms

Marcus Gebhard, a linguist with Pioneer Bible Translators, and Justin May wanted a visual representation of how a Man of Faith should look, according to the Christian Bible. The design would be used to remind and teach each trait.

I had the great privilege of working alongside Tiffany Olson to illustrate this piece β€œThe Manhood Coat of Arms.”

Each concept piece was created by Tiffany Olson, and my job was to take these concepts and illustrate a piece with the approval and input of Justin May. Each part of the coat of arms had the purpose of reminding and teaching certain principles. Thus, the design needed to be clear and concise.

I approached designing the coat of arms as if it were a relic of the past. I drew inspiration from prints found in the 18th Century and from the β€œThe Royal Heraldry of England.” The incorporation of both styles lead to an elegant and bold design which gave a majestic and royal setting.
